Sterling Boothe Morrow passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 at the age of 85, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born at home on Dec. 26, 1928 to Lucy Virginia Meyers and Sidney Jefferson Morrow at Stratton. He attended a one room school house at Stratton and later attended and graduated from Yoakum High School.
On July 6, 1952 he married Norma Jean Koenig of Bebe, Texas. He was an MP in the Army from 1951 to 1956. He was not afraid of hard work and held many jobs and lived in various places in his younger years, including Gonzales, Bay City, Eagle Pass, San Antonio, and Houston. In 1972, he brought his family to Cuero which was very close to his Stratton roots. He was the owner of Morrow Fence and Hardware for over 30 years before retiring just a few years ago.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years along with his three children all of Cuero: Elaine Post (husband John), Darrell Morrow (wife Pam), and Marsha Bauer (fiancé John Bonser). Five grandchildren: Brandy Boza (husband Rafael) of Houston; Blake Morrow (wife Kristin) of Adkins; Chandra Carbonara (husband Will), Clayt Gohmert, and Brandon Morrow all of Cuero. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Alexandra and Nicolas Boza, Masyn and Matthew Morrow, and William, Arissa, and Cannon Carbonara.
He is also survived by his sisters: Virginia “Totsie” Styles of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Margaret Benbow and Frances Walden of Stratton.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents as well as his brother, Thomas Jefferson Morrow.
Sterling was loved dearly by his family and many friends. He was only content when everyone was gathered together. His greatest passion was deer hunting and traveling in his motor home, particularly in Colorado. He also loved the Texas Hill Country and relished in the many years of memories of the house that he built in Leakey.
Pallbearers are Blake Morrow, Brandon Morrow, Clayt Gohmert, Rafael Boza, Will Carbonara, and David Benbow.
Honorary pallbearers are Jim Conrad, Gene Grafe, Bobby Heyer, Bobby McMahan, Butch Tolbert, and Curtis Trammel.
The family would like to express its deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to his live-in caregivers Shannon Keyes and Rosita Hernandez, along with Dr. Jennifer Gonzales, and all of the nurses, aides and volunteers with Hospice of South Texas. Thanks for making it possible to keep our father at home.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9 at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10 at Freund Funeral Home with Elder Bill Walden officiating. Interment will follow at Alexander Cemetery in Stratton.
