Herman Joseph Sturm

Herman Joseph Sturm, 76, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013. He was born in Runge on June 18, 1937 to Eleanor Sturm and the late Herman Julius Sturm.
 
Herman was retired from Alcoa after 30 years. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Herman was active with the Boy Scouts, having been 422 Cubmaster, Den Master at O’Connor School for scouts 108, Boy Scouts leader of St. Mary’s troop. Herman was a recipient of the St. George Award. He also served as Commander and District Commander of VFW Post 4146. He had also been Chaplain for Korean War Veterans. Herman was a member of South Texas Wheel Spinners and Cranktwisters Tractor Club, K.J.T. Member and loved dancing and camping.
 
Herman is survived by his wife, Pauline Motal Sturm of Victoria; mother, Eleanor Sturm of Yorktown; sons, Kevin Sturm, Gerald Sturm and fiancé Brooke Crowe, Byron Sturm and wife Tammy, all of Victoria; grandchildren, Bryan and Brianna Sturm; sisters, Sister Mary Ellen Sturm of San Antonio, Janet Sturm of Yorktown, Linda King of Edna; brothers, Wilbert Sturm of Yorktown, Alvin Sturm and wife Rachell of Pasadena, James Sturm of Victoria, Marvin Sturm and wife Gretchen of Victoria; numerous nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by brothers, Albert Sturm, Raymond Sturm and Robert Sturm.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 at Grace Funeral Home. A rosary will follow at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father George Henninger officiating. 
 
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Yorktown with Father Roger Hawes officiating.
Pallbearers are VFW Post 4146 members.
 
Arrangements under the care of Grace Funeral Home.
