Lt. Col. (Ret.) Floyd W. Haun, 93, of Yorktown, passed away on Nov. 13, 2014. He was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Arneckeville, to the late Otto and Elena Thieme Haun. Floyd was retired from the United States Air Force reserves, having flown transport planes over the Himalayas from India into China in WWII. After working for the International Harvester dealership for several years, he became the first teacher for the Yorktown High School auto mechanics vocational program, and retired from teaching after over 20 years, having won state recognition for his skill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Gladys Ideus Haun.
Floyd is survived by his sons, Will Haun (Carlos) of San Antonio and Keith Haun (Kathy) of Houston; grandchildren, Ryan Haun, Steven Haun (deAnna), Adam Haun (Katie), Maggie Haun, and Abby Haun (Mario Clavijo).
Visitation was 5-7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at Finch Funeral Chapel. Funeral service is 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Tim Muehlbrad officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
