
Jimmie A. Hotz, Sr., of the Eagle Lake area passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Lukes Hospital in Houston surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 9, 1931 in Arneckeville, Tx. one of 10 children. He joined the Texas National Guard at the age of 17 with his father’s consent. After the National Guard he worked as a welder for Southern Pacific Railroad for 33 yrs and with Daniel Industries in Houston for 27 yrs building pallets.
He married the love of his life Helen Marie Ebrom on October 8, 1960 in Cuero, Tx. Out of that marriage came 3 wonderful children, Jimmie A Hotz, Jr. of Houston, Annette Herman Hotz of Mississippi, and Rhonda Hotz of Eagle Lake. He was alson proud of his 2 grandchildren, Hillary Ann Herman of TN, a nursing student and Russell James (Rusty) Herman of Montana who is following in his grandpa’s footsteps in the National Guard.
Also surviving is his only sibling Claudia Mae Pyka of East Bernard who just turned 94 and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends in the Eagle Lake and Cuero communities.
Services were handled by the Eagle Lake Funeral Home and graveside with military honors being Thomaston, Tx. Pallbearers were Lawrence Hotz, Gary Hotz, Mike Hotz, Jerry Pyka, Jeffrey Ware, James Ware, Russell (Rusty) Herman and Honorary pallbearerr J.W. (Sonny) Pyka, jr., his nephew.
He was a quiet simple man with a big heart and loved by so many. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
