Francisco Martinez Sr., age 89, of Smiley, died Aug. 3, 2013 in Cuero.
He was born in Martindale on Sept. 17, 1923.
Francisco was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Martinez; his mother, Christina Dominguez; his wife, Trinidad Soliz; sons, Freddy Joe Martinez, Jose Luis Martinez, Ricardo Martinez and Francisco (Frank) Martinez Jr.; a daughter, Mary Cardenas; grandson, Michael Cardenas; and great-granddaughter, Marcela Rodriguez.
He is survived by his children: Maggie Echavarria, Virginia Aranda, Emilia DeLeon, Stephen Martinez, Florence Sandoval, Lola Villarreal, Mary Cervantes, Rosa Rios and Angela Banuelos; and sisters Felicia Moreno and Lupe Martinez.
Viewing and visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon with a rosary service beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral mass will be Wednesday, Aug. 7 at St. Phillips Catholic Church in Smiley. Burial will follow at the Wrightsboro Cemetery.
