
Bart Lee Canion, 53, of Port Lavaca, passed away unexpectedly Aug. 5, 2013.
He was born on Jan. 15, 1960, to Mary Ruth Halliday Tasler and Selby Lynn Canion of Port Lavaca. Bart was employed by Adventure Machine and Fabrication and was previously employed by RLB Contracting and King Fisher Marine Service for 30 years.
In addition to his parents, Bart is survived by his step-father Paul Tasler; Sandy Boyd, his companion, best friend, love of his life, and mother of his children; daughter Kylee Shea Canion Gibson and husband Kurtis Gibson, granddaughters Heavyn, Matilyn and Lillyan Gibson; son Dean Plummer and wife Erika, grandchildren Kerstin and Peyton Timpone, and Raegan and Gavin Plummer; brothers Kenneth Canion and John Canion and wife Nan; five nieces and nephews; five great-nieces and nephews, all of Port Lavaca; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
Bart was a man who enjoyed spending time visiting with his family and friends, and relaxing on the front porch of his mom and step-dad’s home.
Bart’s pride and joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren in addition to working his herd of registered Beefmaster cattle. He was a member of Beefmaster Breeders United along with a member of South Texas Beefmaster Breeders Association. He was the superintendent of the swine division of the Calhoun County Junior Livestock Show and a former member of the Calhoun County Rodeo Association.
A memorial service honoring Bart will be conducted at 10 a.m. Aug. 10 at Salem Lutheran Church.
