
Irma Martha (Baumann) Lentz, age 92 died on Monday, January 19, 2015 in Cuero, Texas. Irma was born to Adolph and Erna (Hoerig) Baumann on July 25, 1922 in Nordheim, Texas where she grew up. She was the youngest child with five older brothers: Oswald, Erwin, Alfred, Rudolph, and Walter. She studied at Texas Lutheran University and Texas Tech from which she earned a bachelor of science degree in Education in 1948. She loved teaching and taught for over 30 years in Garfield, Nordheim, La Grange, Yorktown, Luckenbach, and Fredericksburg. She met her husband at Bethany Lutheran Church. They were married February 8, 1953. She was a talented artist and painted with Carolyn Walker, John McClusky, and the art group at the Golden Hub in Fredericksburg.
Surviving are her children, one daughter Susan Sullivan and son-in-law Robert Sullivan of Cuero, two sons, Thomas Lentz of Waco, and Fred Lentz of Nutley, New Jersey, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her husband Rudolph Lentz, who died September 20, 1998, her parents, and all five of her older brothers.
Irma was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She was a lifetime member of the Texas State Teachers Association, lifetime member of the Fredericksburg Parent Teachers Association. She was inducted into the Delta Kappa Gama International Society of Outstanding Teachers. She was also a member of the Fredericksburg Rockhounds.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 24, at 10 am at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, the Rev. Casey Zesch officiating. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.
