Pauline A. Vela, 85, of San Antonio, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015. She was born May 14, 1929 in Yorktown to the late Cecilia and Onesimo Abrego. She married Refugio Vela on June 5, 1954 in Yorktown. Pauline was a homemaker, Guadalupana, and Jamaica Queen. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Refugio Vela; daughters, Cecilia Kiki Vela of San Antonio; sons, Michael Vela and wife, Ruth, of San Antonio and Eddie Vela and wife, Evie, of Waxahachie; sister, Irene Diaz; grandchildren, Michael Joseph Vela, Monica Jeanette Farias, D'Jae Marie Welling, Donald Luke Vela, and Marcus Anthony Lopez; great-grandchildren, Desiree Farias, Isabella Farias, and Colton Welling; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ofelia Gomez, Lydia Villarreal, Tomasita Amador, and Rosita Molina; and brothers, Robert Abrego and Onesimo Abrego Jr.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with a rosary at 10 a.m. Funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Henry Amador, Daniel Amador, Rudy Gomez, Paul Purpura, Donald Luke Vela, and Marcus Anthony Lopez.
