
Emanuel Andrus “Andy” Hebert, 79, a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on April 27, 2015. Andy, a licensed Professional Engineer, graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and from the University of Houston with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army 1958-1960.
Andy was born in Cuero, Texas on August 28, 1935, to Judge Stephen P. Hebert and wife, Carolyn Burda Hebert. He attended UT in Austin and became a lifelong Longhorn fan, a Life Member of the UT Caissons, Texas Exes and the Longhorn Foundation and proudly held up the “Hook ‘em Horns” through many Longhorn sporting events and even in the nursing home in his final days.
Andy was a civil engineer and real estate appraiser in Houston, Texas, where he raised his family and continued his love of sports through his children and their friends attending their sporting events and numerous Houston Astro games. He was an active member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas as an Usher and member of the Chancel Choir. In 1996, he moved to Victoria, Texas and in 2005 retired from his career. Andy met Patsy Simons while attending First United Methodist Church Victoria and they married on July 7, 2007.
Andy is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy Simons Hebert of Victoria, Texas; his children, Betsy and Scott Humphrey and Tom and Brenda Hebert, all of Houston, Texas, Ted and Beth Hebert of Keller, Texas and their mother, Carol Hebert; his step-children, Michelle and Grant Ley of Chicago, Illinois and Marcie and Kevin Golliher of Austin, Texas; his brother, Stephen Hebert and wife Lorraine of Cuero, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Andy, David and Carrie Humphrey, Emily Hebert, Hannah and Maddie Hebert, Madeline, Emily and Jack Goulet, Ian and Aidan Golliher; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and second cousins.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Whispering Pines Nursing Home in Cuero and special friends Robert, Walter and Maria Patrick, who loved and cared for Andy as a member of the family, of Victoria, Texas.
A Funeral Service celebrating the life of Andy Hebert will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11am at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero, Texas. Visitation will be held 10-11am, prior to the service. Pallbearers to include: Kevin Golliher, David Hebert, Richard Hebert, David Humphrey, Scott Humphrey, Ron Lee. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Crozier, Andy Humphrey and Grant Ley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Church in Victoria, the Chapelwood United Methodist Church Foundation or a charity of choice.
