Ret. Pastor Nolan Sucher, 72, Flower Mound, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 4, 2015.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra, four sons of a blended family, Brian, Flower Mound; Bradley, Murphy; Brandon, Arvada, CO; and Ret. Col. Doyle Turner, San Antonio; grandchildren Rylee and Raegan Sucher, Flower Mound, TX; Katie and Kristen Sucher, Murphy, TX; Amelia Sucher, Arvada, CO; Jordin, Jett, Kenan and Kaleb Turner, San Antonio, TX; and sisters Norlene Ckodre, Victoria; Karen Blaschke, Spring; and Kathy Ozuna, Cuero. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah, and his wife, Judy.
Nolan was born June 1, 1942 to Herbert and Doris (Brieger) Sucher (Nordheim, TX). He graduated from Nordheim High School, 1960, Texas Lutheran College, 1964, and Wartburg Theological Seminary, 1968. He married Judy Schroeder, August, 1964. His ministry included 45 years of service. His first call, a two-point parish in Wisconsin: Tamarack Lutheran, Tamarck and Mt. Calvary, Trempealeau. Returning to Texas, he served St. John Lutheran, Robstown and Faith Lutheran, Flower Mound; in retirement he was licensed as an Intentional Interim Pastor and served Grace Lutheran, Carrollton; Redeemer Lutheran, Greenville; and Abiding Peace Community, Flower Mound. After the death of Judy in 1982, Nolan married Sandra Zimmerman Turner in 1984.
There was a “Celebration of Life” service at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, Flower Mound on Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m. Mulkey Mason Funeral Home, Lewisville, TX handling arrangements.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 13 at St. Paul Lutheran, 4th & Chapparal, Nordheim, at 1 p.m. followed by lunch and graveside service; officiant: Rev. Jeff Thompson.
