Florian Konczewski, 85, of Cuero, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015. He was born on January 30, 1930 in Lindenau to the late Walter Frank Konczewski and Cecilia R. Konczewski. Florian was a hard working, independent man. His skills as a mechanic were easily seen as he took apart a tractor engine to find the problem, fix it, then put it back together. He could work on any piece of equipment, or tractor, to get it running again. Having a wrench in one hand and a Coke in the other made him happy. Florian loved his cattle and his dogs. He was dedicated to his constant companion- his Boston terrier, Wendy. Florian and Wendy could often be seen riding the Kubota ATV or “playing catch” in the driveway. He was also always willing to lend a helping hand to a neighbor. He was the “neighborhood watch” as he looked out for all those around him. Florian had a full life loving the outdoors and his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Slovacek (Ronnie) of Cuero and Patricia Konczewski of Cuero; and grandchildren, Megan Slovacek of Victoria and Amber Jensen (Jon) of San Marcos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Betty Konczewski; mother of their children, Buelah Konczewski; and brother, Herman Konczewski.
Visitation will be held at Freund Funeral Home on Friday, May 22, 2015 from 6-8 pm with the Rosary to begin at 7 pm. Funeral mass will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 9 am with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Yorktown.
