Zelma Vicars

Zelma Kathyrn “Sis” Ivey Vicars was born near Leesville, Gonzales County, Texas, July 22, 1928 to Andrew Jackson Ivey and Ella Lee Clutter Ivey. A long time resident of Victoria, she was a local business owner until her retirement years ago. She was preceded in death by her daughters: Sharon Hise Behrend and Deborah Jo Moore; grandchildren, Vicki Lyn Behrend and Frederick Joseph “Ricky” Behrend III; brothers, Marvin, Tom, Irvin, Rueben “Red,” Albert, Lester Nash, Roush, Elton, and twin brother Delma “Sonny” Ivey; sisters, Maggie Falks, Nettie Yates, Effie Daniels, Leoma Dixon, Alberta Parke, Opal Calloway, Thelma and Velma Ivey, Lucille Henneke, and Gwendolyn “Jerry” Klander. Sis is survived by her daughters,  Jane Carnoski (Johnny) of Houston, Tammy Thornton (Lester) of Victoria and Jeanie Heath of Houston; sons, Lenny Moore (Sherry) of Spring Branch, and Stanley Moore (Madeline) of Los Angeles, California, 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
 
A Celebration of Life will be held at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Nixon Cemetery. Pallbearers include Allan Calloway, Harold Wessels, Roger Buchorn, Mike Singletary, David Moore, and Will Moore. Honorary Pallbearers include Kurt Poe, William Conrad Gwosdz, Nick Silkey, Cody Moore, Ranson Behrend, Nathan Dodd, Tanner Moore, and John Sinor. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. The online guest-book may be signed at www.finchfuneralchapels.com.
