
Maclovia “Mackey” Rubio Gonzales, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015. She was born in Goliad on Sept. 11, 1932 to the late Jesus and Juanita Duque Rubio. She married Richard C. Gonzales on Dec. 23, 1951 at Our Lady of Loreto Chapel, La Bahia Mission in Goliad. This union was blessed with the birth of three sons: Richard Jr, Carl William and Arthur Ray Gonzales. Richard and Mackey settled in Cuero. She was a homemaker and owner of the El Patio restaurant.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Richard Gonzales of Cuero; son, Arthur Ray Gonzales (Dr. Jennifer) of Cuero; granddaughters, Elizabeth Inez Gonzales and Maria Elena Gonzales of Cuero; brothers, Juan D. Rubio of Goliad and Lupe Rubio of Houston; sister, Margaret Reyes of Deer Park, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends she adored.
Mackey was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Richard Jr. and Carl William Gonzales; and brothers, Jose D. Rubio and Alberto D. Rubio.
Visitation is planned from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cuero with a Rosary to begin at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Our Lady of Guadalupe at 10 a.m. with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Trent Orosco, Brandon Orosco, Ray Orosco, Ray Albert Rubio, Terry Coggins, and John Coggins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic School in Cuero.
