Richard Navarro

Richard R. “Steamroller” Navarro, 66, of Cuero passed away Friday, April 8, 2016. He was born July 7, 1949 in Austin to Eliseo and Elualia Navarro, Sr.  Richard married the love of his life, Angela Flores on February 15, 1986 in Cuero.

He served in the United States Army for seven years and in the National Guard for 16 years. Richard was a bus driver for Cuero I.S.D. for eight years and Capitol Metro for three years. For 18 years he umpired little league baseball games and was a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. Richard was a loving husband, father and uncle and was very dedicated to his work and being involved with the community.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Angie F. Navarro; father, Eliseo B. Navarro, Sr. of Austin; daughters, Regina Elizabeth Gonzales and Erica Renne Navarro and Naomi Chaney, all of Austin; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; Aunt, Minnie Imbrico; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Elualia Rangel Navarro and brothers, Eliseo B. Navarro, Jr. and Joe Alexander Navarro, Sr.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Tuesday, April 12 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Matthew Huehlefeld, officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Henry V. Flores, Jr., Elias Garibay, Joe Garcia, Samuel Vasquez, Kenny Lopez, Jason Lopez, Jeffery Lopez and Bobby Bayfus.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
