Marcie Dawn (Dameron) Brown, 43 years old, passed from this life to be with God on Sunday, May 1, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Wheat Ridge Colorado to Don and Mary Lynn Dameron on Aug. 17, 1972, she moved with her family to Round Rock when she was nine years old.
Along with her beloved sister and best friend Michelle (Dameron) Eckert, she was raised in a Presbyterian-Christian home and was a charter member of Round Rock Presbyterian Church. After graduation from Round Rock High School in 1990, Marcie went to Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacodoches, graduating with a dual degree in sociology and gerontology. Discerning a call to pastoral ministry, Marcie attended Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and upon graduation accepted a call to be Associate Pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City in 1998. While finishing her Seminary studies she met her husband, Rev. Toby L. Brown, after they met and sang together in Seminary choir. During her time in Oklahoma City her daughter, Margaret Brown, was born in 2000.
When her husband accepted a call to pastor First Presbyterian ChUrch in Cuero, the young family moved and a year later welcomed a son, Aidan Brown in 2003. While in Cuero, Marcie served several small churches and eventually worked for the Presbyterian Pan American School in Kingsville and also directed the after school program for the Cuero Independent School District. When the family moved to Sanderson, Texas in 2012, for Toby to become the pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Inderson, Marcie started a new adventure in education; she became a junior high math and science teacher at Sanderson Junior High.
Although she has passed from our sight, Marcie’s love, commitment, passion and faith live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Marcie was committed to Christ’s Church, to her family and to all the children she ever met. Her love of all things Disney was infectious and she was always eager to talk about her love of the works of Jane Austen. Although her youthful travels took her to Paris, Russia, Switzerland and Germany, her best-loved travels were with her family, where her meticulous planning enabled travels where each member of the family was guaranteed to have a good time. Each day we remember her love and are inspired by her faith in God’s guidance. She will be forever missed, until we meet her again, with all the saints in heaven.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents and a niece, Isabella Eckert. Marcie is survived by her husband Toby Brown of 17 Years, her children Maggie and Aidan. She is also survived by her parents, Don and Mary Lynn Dameron of Round Rock, and parents-in-law, Lesley and Clara Brown of Fort Worth, a sister, Michelle Eckert and a nephew, Tyler Eckert and a niece, Madison Eckert, of Leander.
