Arnelda Carter

Arnelda E. Carter, 85, of Cuero passed away Monday, May 16, 2016. She was born Jan. 11, 1931 in Cuero to Arnold and Esther Gohlke. Arnelda married the love of her life, Elmer Glynn Carter on Dec. 21, 1949. Glynn’s service to his country with the Air Force had them traveling the world until his retirement after 26 years.

After moving home to Cuero, Arnelda retired from Cuero ISD as a secretary after 20 years and had a catering service for 22 years. She enjoyed reading, traveling and gardening. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She is survived by daughter, Glynda Schulle (Raymond) of Cuero; son Charles A. Carter (Sheila) of Georgetown; sister, Melva Behrens of Glyndon Minnesota; grandchildren, Cherie Carter of San Francisco, California, Alissa Carter - Carlick (Anthony) of Dubai UAE, Wesley Schulle of Cuero, Christina Schulle Sherman (Andrew) of Victoria and Rusty Carter (Joyce) of Bryan; great-grandchildren, Amber Gibbs of Dubai, Brandon Sherman of Victoria and Evie Carter of Bryan.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Glynn Carter and sisters, Mildred Pump and Helen Koenig.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Sunday, May 22 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Thompson, officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Schulle, Rusty Carter, Andrew Sherman, Bob Gohlke, William Schulle and Keith Salo. Honorary Pallbearers are Sean Ansted, Michael Kelley, John Behrens, Paul Epstein, Don Gytri and Ricky Sasser.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and Bluebonnet Youth Ranch.
