Robert Gordon Bond passed away at home on July 6, 2016, in Austin, at the age of 65.
Gordon is preceded in death by his father, Alan Bond. He’s survived by his mother, Anna Bond; wife of 24 years, Vickie Bond; children Beth Bond, Andy Bond and his wife Samantha, Noel Hooker, Jana Gottschalk and her husband Chris; brother Barry Bond and his wife Steffanie; nephews Austin and Taylor Bond; and grandchildren Jamie and Jake Hooker and Tyler and Addison Gottschalk.
Gordon was born on Dec. 12, 1950, in San Marcos and raised in Cuero, where he was known as Gordy. In 1992, he married Vickie, truly the love of his life. Equal partners in life and work, together they owned a photography business as well as a storage business that became a hub for neighbors to stop in and visit. Gordon made a point of being deeply rooted in his neighborhood, maintaining the park that was his favorite hangout as a board member and later president of the Lake Hills Community Association. He and Vickie were dedicated members of Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church, where they served as ushers for many years.
His family and friends know him as a welcoming, generous figure who was unfailingly positive – an engaging storyteller quick with a kind word. Gordon always knew just what to say and when to say it.
Happiest being lakeside or out on the water, he was passionate about his boat, barbecue and icing down beer to share with his wife, beloved family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church.
Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Gonzales.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to an organization Gordon and Vickie supported regularly, the Disabled American Veterans Charity.
