Dorian Thurk

Dorian D. Thurk, 72, of Cuero passed away Oct. 6, 2016. He was born in Cuero on May 19, 1944 to the Late R.C. and Corine Knocke Thurk. Dorian married Carol Lynn Hahn on Jan. 20, 1967 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Cuero. They lived in Victoria for the first years of their marriage. He owned and operated Thurk Fabricating, Inc. and was active in the care of his land and cattle until he suffered a severe stroke in December, 2011. He was steadfast in his belief of preserving the Legacy of those who came before him and leaving it even better for the next generation. He instilled this strong legacy of dedication and stewardship of the land and cattle in his nephew, Ty Luddeke, and perhaps to the next generation also. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Cuero.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of 49 years and nine months; his brother, Dalton Thurk (Lillian) of Victoria; sister, Audrey Best of Houston, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws: Myron and JoAnn Luddeke, James and Evelyn Hahn; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great - nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 9 at Freund Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Services will be held Monday Oct. 10 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. with Pastor Sharon Wiggins officiating.

Pallbearers will be Ty Luddeke, Myron Luddeke, James Hahn, Paul Edmondson, Steve Lange and Fritz Landgrebe. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Duelberg, Art Dohmann and little great-nephews and great-niece, Truitt Luddeke, Austin Cowan, Wyatt Luddeke, Zane Cowan and Emma Luddeke.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and Hospice of South Texas.
