Angelene Rosalee Baros Hilbrich, 86, of Westhoff passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017. She was born July 14, 1930 to Louise Lukas and William Edward Baros. Angelene was baptized and confirmed at St.John Lutheran Church in Westhoff. She married Melvin Reuben Hilbrich on Aug. 29, 1953 in Giddings.
She graduated from Cuero High School in 1947 and worked for J.C. Penney Co. as a cashier from 1947 to 1953 and went on to work at Home State Bank, Victoria Bank Shares, Norwest and Wells Fargo Banks from 1959 until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary serving as Vice President and past President. Angelene was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Westhoff and served on the church council and officer of WELCA (Woman of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America).
She is survived by her son, Kent Hilbrich and wife, Cindy of Westhoff; grandchildren Justin Hilbrich, Brandon Hilbrich and wife Jenny, and Kenci Hilbrich; and great-grandson Kason Hilbrich all of San Antonio; niece, Sue Hilbrich and husband Billy Ray; nephew, Gregg Bunjes and wife Cheryl of Westhoff; brother- in- law, Norman Kahlich; sister- in- law, Joycie Kahlich; and her beloved companion Rollie.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; sister, Estelle Baros Bunjes ; son, Mel Hilbrich, Jr.; and daughter- in- law Elizabeth Calk Hilbrich.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 26 at 2:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Westhoff with Reverend William Hill officiating. Interment to follow in Westhoff Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Justin, Brandon and Kenci Hilbrich; Gregg Bunjes, Denis Mueller and Keith Goebel.
