Carolynn Ann Parma, 53, of Cuero passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014. She was born October 14, 1960 in Yorktown to Ernest and Ethel Parma. Carolynn, better known as “Missy”, enjoyed many hobbies, such as painting and coloring, and had a true passion for her music.
 
She is survived by her parents; sister, Denise L. Jaskinia, and her husband, Louis Jr.; and brother, Michael W. Parma.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Freund Funeral Home with a rosary beginning at 7 pm. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Freund Funeral Home with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers include Craig Bednorz, Mike Bednorz, Louis Jaskinia Jr., Arnold Filip, Kenneth Sanders, and Richard Koch.

Lawrence Laging, 79, of Yorktown, TX died Sunday February 16, 2014. He was born April 11, 1934 in DeWitt County to the late Werner and Bernice Mueller Laging. He retired from Dupont after 27 years, he also was a Pecan Farmer in DeWitt County.
 
He is survived by his wife Peggy Laging of Yorktown, daughters Zola Kay Shipley and husband Stephen of Ft. Worth, Lora Kim Laging and partner Rory Ridley of Austin, son Charles Kent Laging and Janet of Suffold, VA, and honorary son Roel Chacon and wife Alicia of Yorktown, 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers James Laging and wife Jeanette of Harwood, TX Carwin Laging and wife Marilyn of Cuero and sister Arlene Orr of Greenville, TX.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Roy Laging, two infant granddaughters.
 
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday Feb. 20, 2014 at Massey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday Feb. 21, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Westside Cemetery. 
 
Pallbearers will be Len Schendel, Kody Boyd, Daniel Moody, Matthew Laging, Shelby Laging, Roel Chacon Jr. Andrew Chacon and Michael Afflerbach.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Gruenau Hall, St. Lukes Children Hospital or Mended Little Hearts in San Antonio or donor's choice.

Daniel Rene Rivera, 47, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 as a result of injuries sustained as a result of an automobile/motorcycle accident. 
 
Born in Luling, Texas, Mr. Rivera was scheduled to graduate with his Bachelor’s degree in the Fall of 2014. He was a loving son, brother, husband and father.
 
He leaves his adoring wife, Melissa Flores Rivera of McAllen; two sons Daniel Rene Rivera, Jr. and Joshua Charles Rivera of McAllen; and his daughter, Anastasia Nichole Rivera of McAllen; his parents Florence and Danny V. Rivera of Edinburg; his brother Charles Nathan (Jamie) Rivera of Edinburg; two sisters Danielle Renee (Emmanuel Colliot) Rivera of Austin, Texas; and Dawn Deanne (Abel De La Cruz) Rivera of Kyle, Texas.
 
Visitations will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at O’Bannon Funeral Home located at 210 South Laurel in Luling, Texas. A Rosary was recited at St. John’s Catholic church on February 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at 315 E. Travis in Luling, Texas. A funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Luling, Texas. Burial was followed at 2:00 p.m. at Assumption Cemetery in Austin, Texas.
 
A reception was held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Southside Clubhouse located at 1035 S. Magnolia in Luling, TX.

Domingo Ruiz, Sr., 69, of Hockley, Texas formerly of Cuero, Texas passed away on February 20, 2014. He was born on July 23, 1944 in Cuero, TX to the late Apolonio Ruiz and Malaria Pienda Ruiz.
 
He is survived by his sons Domingo (Jeanna) Ruiz, Jr. of Hockley, TX, Justin Lee (Miranda) Ruiz of Cuero, TX, Eric English of Ft. Worth and Chris (Shena) English of Victoria, TX. He is also survived by his brother Robert Ruiz of Cuero, TX his sister Santos Barbotin and ten grandchildren. 
 
He is preceded by his parents, his brothers Jessie Ruiz, Sr., Eliseo Ruiz, Joel Ruiz and his sister Commeracion Salas.

Sammy Lee Meza, age 57, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014.
 
He was born on October 10, 1956 in Yoakum to Zaragosa and Delfina DeLosSantos Meza.
 
He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from the City of Yoakum.
 
Survivors: mother, Delfina Meza of Yoakum; wife, Rose Linda Dominguez Meza of Yoakum; daughters, Dawn Meza Arriaga and husband Lorenzo of Yoakum and April Meza Padilla and husband Martin of Cuero; son, Samuel Meza and wife Jennifer of Houston; honorary sons, Steven and Chris Licon; 8 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren; step-daughter, Erica Perez of Yoakum; step-son, Nicholas Perez of Houston and a sister, Linda Pena of Cuero
Preceded in death by his father and a brother, Stevie Meza.
 
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the funeral home.
 
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014 at New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Jaquez officiating. Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Nelda Ruth Sinast Schulle

Nelda Ruth Sinast Schulle, 73, of Cuero passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014. She was born on October 24, 1940 in Yorktown to the late Edwin John and Agnes Buchhorn Sinast. Nelda married Erwin Christian Schulle on June 12, 1960 in Lindenau at St. John’s Lutheran Church. She worked for DeWitt County Electric Coop for 37 years as the head cashier and capital credit clerk. Nelda was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Cuero where she served on the bereavement committee and the alter guild, and made prayer shawls for people who had fallen ill. After retirement, she did administrative work for the church office and Surface Burial Vault where her husband was part owner. She loved to crochet and loved playing cards and Bunco with her friends. She also loved to watch The Dallas Cowboys and followed the Cuero Gobblers on the radio every Friday night. Nelda took great pride in her grandchildren, following them in all their activities to include baseball, stock shows, and school programs. She had a special love for her great-grandchildren.
 
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Ann ‘Cindy’ Kainer and husband, Robert, of Cuero and Melissa Kaye ‘Missy' Salyer and husband, Monte, of Goliad; grandchildren, John Sager and wife, Tonya, of Victoria, Tiffany Pickens and husband, Jeremy, of Vacaville, Calif., Cody Salyer and wife, Tham, of Victoria, and Ashley Vullemin and husband, Mitchell, of Uvalde; great-grandchildren, Luke Sager, McKenna Sager, and Mitchell Vullemin Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who have all been a blessing to her during her recent illness. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 46 years, Erwin C. Schulle. 
 
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 5 to 7 pm at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 10:30 am with Pastor Karl Biermann officiating. Interment will follow at Lindenau Community Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers include John Sager, Cody Salyer, Mitchell Vullemin, Justin Kremling, Michael Farris, and William Schulle. Honorary pallbearers include Jeremy Pickens, Darrel Foster, Roland Tieken, David Farris, Raymond Schulle, Dennis Rogenkamp, and Roger Krause.

Frank Syma, Jr.

Frank Syma, Jr. was born in Yorktown to Frank Syma, Sr. and Frances (Danysh) Syma on October 3, 1928. He passed away on February 22, 2014 at the age of 85. 
 
Frank honorably served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during the Berlin Air Lift. After his time in the service Frank went on to be a cattleman rancher, painting contractor, and a land developer. He took great pride in being a consultant for the historical renovation of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Cestohowa, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria, Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown, the Karnes County Courthouse and numerous construction projects throughout San Antonio. 
 
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bruno, Irene, Joe, Sabie, Severin, Frances, and Robert. 
 
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Louise Syma; children, Rachel Sturm (Alvin), Russell Syma, Sr., Rebecca Syma, Reyne Syma Foley (Jerry), and Rory Syma; grandchildren, Frank Herman, Mariel, and Joseph Sturm, Russell, Matthew, and Melanie Syma, Ryan and Reed Shaffer, Cody and Spencer Foley; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Blake, Ethan, Emma, Allyssa, Grace, and Nathan; sisters, Maurine Thomason and Lucille Pitre; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. 
 
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27 of the BVM Catholic Church, St. Hedwig at 6 p.m. with Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Annunciation of the BVM Catholic Church.
 
The funeral mass will be Friday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m.
 
Father Bill Zadora to officiate. Interment will follow at the Annunciation of the BVM Catholic Cemetery.

Quinton Haun

Quinton Haun, “Billy”, 23, of Cuero, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 22, 2014. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Meyersville, Texas, where he was confirmed at age 12 with all of his family and friends present. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who spent many hours with his Papa on the Guadalupe River and back creeks. Quinton was a proud member of The 4-H Club, winning Grand Champion in his first year. He loved to cook and prepare meals for his entire family. His fondest memories were spending time with his buddies rebuilding old trucks and hunting with his Papa. Quinton had a gentle heart and made friends easily. He was an entrepreneur.
 
He was cherished and will be forever missed by his loving family: His mother, Monica Haun; father, Clay Haun; sisters, Emily Maye and Alexis Rebecca Haun; grandparents, Debby and Glen Young & Clifford and Betty Jo Haun, and great-grandparents; Joe and Kathryn Burke; along with many loving family members.
 
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church in Meyersville with Pastor John Boor officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Leo Galindo III, 56, of Cuero passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014.  He was born Nov. 17, 1957 to Leoncio Galindo Jr. and Ramona Garibay.  Leo was dedicated employee to Edward Keseling for over 10 years.
 
He is survived by his daughters, Cassandra M. Galindo, Tamara R. Galindo, Samantha  J. Galindo, Julia L. Galindo, and; sons, Leo N. Galindo, Joseph A. Galindo, Jacob Licon, and Lorenzo Garza; sister, Linda Rodriguez; brother, Moses Galindo; grandchildren, Kaytlyn A. Galindo, Caraline J. Galindo, Chloe R. Galindo, Aiden S. Johnson, Jayse Wade, Weather Galindo, Jallayna Licon, Christopher Garza, and John Wayne Garza;  and great-grandchildren, Adalynn Mejias.

Gloria V. Gomez, 49, of Cuero passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014. She was born October 20, 1964 in El Campo to Juan G. Gomez and Amelia Vasquez. Gloria loved being grandma “Buela” to all her grandkids.
 
She is survived by her father; husband, Juan Garcia; children, Monica Moore (Justin) of Cuero, Tammy Mejias (John III) of Cuero, Gina Gurrola of Cuero, Priscilla Trevino (Arthur) of Cuero, Joe Fred Vasquez of Austin, Mariah Garcia of Cuero, Brianna Garcia of Cuero, Ivan Gomez of Cuero, and Eric Gomez of Cuero; sisters, Ann Garcia and Lisa Guzman of Homestead, FL & Donna Gomez and Laura Vasquez of Cuero; brother, John Gomez of Homestead, Fl; and 14 grandchildren.
 
She was proceeded in death by her mother and sister Mary Ann Gomez.
 
Visitation will be held Monday, March 3, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Freund Funeral Home with a rosary beginning at 7 pm. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father David Berger officiating. Dorothy Delesandri (Van Horn), 69, of Fresno, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014. She was born July 4, 1944, in Yorktown, to the late Doise Van Horn and Hilda Marie Goehring. Dorothy was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rosenberg, TX, a graduate of Yorktown High School class of 1962, worked in retail and as a caregiver at day care centers.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce Van Horn; step-sisters, Joyce Hollingshead and Shirley Brown.
Dorothy is survived by step-sisters, Alice Dernehl of Alvin, Marylou Pausewang of Arcola and Anna Bell Gibson; and 9 total nieces and nephews.

Johnnie D. Warzecha, 58, of Cuero passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014. He was born May 16, 1955 in Cuero to Vincent J. and Barbara Warzecha. Johnnie was a welder and worked in construction. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing.
 
He is survived by his parents; daughters, Summer Schreiber and husband, Paul, of Shiner, Fallon Kloesel and husband, EJ, of Yoakum, and Clara Warzecha of Yorktown; sister, Peggy Warzecha Stanchos and husband, Donald, of Cuero; nephews, Jeremy Stanchos of Cuero and Clifford Stanchos of Austin; great-niece, Madison Stanchos and great-nephew, Jackson Stanchos, both of Cuero; grandchildren, Dillon Schreiber of Shiner, Dayton Kloesel and Kaliyah Kloesel, both of Yoakum, and Kinsly Navarro of Yorktown.
 
Visitation will be held Monday, March 10, 2014 at 9 a.m. at Freund Funeral Home with a rosary at 10 a.m. Deacon Tony Warzecha will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery with Pastor Terry Brown officiating. Interment will follow.

Libby Villareal Gonzales, 81, of Cuero passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014. She was born June 18, 1932 in Sweethome to Guadalupe Villareal and Anna Villareal. Libby was a member of Catholic Daughters and St. Michaels Catholic Church. Libby adored being a part of a large family which included 10 brothers and sisters.
 
She is survived by sons, Eugene Gonzales (Penny) and Leopold J. Gonzales III (Mary Elsa); grandchildren, Clayton Fuchs, Jennifer Arguellez (Jesse), Brooke Hoggard (Toby), Matthew Bryand (Dawn), Kyle Gonzales (Tracee), and Matthew Gonzales; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Estilow, Zachary Fuchs, Victoria Hoggard, Cami Mosbroker, Jordan Gonzales, and Cooper Gonzales.
 
She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Leopoldo Gonzales; and grandson, Brandon Gonzales.

Rev. Clarence N. Green Sr. “Sonny”

The Rev. Clarence Nathanial Green Sr. “Sonny,” 82, of Cuero passed away Friday, March 7, 2014. He was born April 28, 1931 in Karnes County to Nathanial Green and Deola Smith Green. Clarence married the love of his life, Pearlie Mae Mathis Green, on October 17, 1953.
 
He is survived by his sons, Ronald Green (Ora) of Cuero, Clarence Green Jr. (Mary) of Hubert, NC., Rufus Green (Tanja) of Cuero, Sam Brown of Victoria, and Tyrone Brown of Yorktown; daughters, Rita Brown of Austin and Hope Brown of Victoria; sisters, Mary Lewis, Jackie Calloway, and Dora Gonzales; brothers, A.B. Green (Patsy), Raymond Green, Sam Green, and Tommy Green (Betty); 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
 
He was proceeded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers; and two sisters.
 
Visitation will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Little Zion Baptist Church. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at L.E. Meador Encampment Grounds with the Rev. Kevin Washington officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers include R.A. Mathis III, James Mathis, A.B. Green Jr., Nat Green, Tom Green, and Ronell Green. Honorary pallbearers include Anthony Mathis, Brooker Cross, Alphonso Lowery, Lee Drone, Sidney Battles, and Sonny Griffin.

Mary Anna Majefski Winkelmann, 92, of Cuero passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014. She was born October 7, 1921 in Davy, Texas to Ignatz Majefski and Bruncy Dudlefski. Mary Anna married the love of her life, Fritz W. Winkelmann, on May 8, 1939 in Runge. Mary Anna was a devoted member to Catholic Daughters and Alter Society. She cherished her arts & crafts, hobby farm, gardening, and collecting dolls & antiques.
 
She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Blaschke; sister, Elizabeth Teel; grandchildren, Jayme Blaschke (Lisa), John Blaschke (Tami), Christopher Blaschke, and Candice Blaschke; and great-grandchildren, Calista Blaschke, Keela Blaschke, Orion Blaschke, and Braxton Blaschke.
 
She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Matilda Young & Florentina Ploch; brothers, Leon Majefski & George Majefski.
 
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 4-6 pm with Rosary at 5 pm. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 17, 2014 at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers include Jayme Lynn Blaschke, John Ladd Blaschke, Christopher Lyle Blaschke, Carl Ploch, Raymond Young, and George Majefski, Jr.

Victor L. Ibrom, 102, of Yorktown, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 16, 2014. He was born September 6, 1911, in Yorktown, to the late Anton and Victoria Ibrom. Victor was a lifelong resident of Yorktown and devoted his entire life, dawn to dusk, to agriculture as a farmer and rancher. He was man of strong will and work ethic. 
 
Victor was preceded in death by his parents; son, Adrian Ibrom, son-in-law, Eugene Stanush and ten siblings.
 
He is survived by his loving wife, Irene, of more than 76 years; children, Al Ibrom and wife Maggie, Gladys Stanush, and Raymond Ibrom; grandchildren, Joyce, Mark, Kevin, Debbie, Jason, Eric and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Kurtis, Brett, Wyatt, Garrett, Jacob, Chloe, Tim, Chris, Alyssa, Colton, Brayden, Ava Grace, Makayla, McKenzy and Addilyn; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
 
Visitation is 5:00-8 pm with a recitation of the rosary at 7pm, Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Finch Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Friday, March 21, 2014, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
 
Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Ibrom, Aaron Ibrom, Jason Ibrom, Mark Ibrom, Kevin Stanush, Doug Johnston, and Jayson Bennett.

Joe G. Barfield, 88, of Yorktown died Friday March 14, 2014. He was born November 26, 1925 in Yorktown, to the late Madin and Lottie Davis Barfield. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, an avid golfer and a painter. He loved is cattle and assisting on his in-laws ranch.
 
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Spies Barfield of Yorktown, daughter Laurie Barfield and husband Doug, sons Thomas Barfield and wife Becky, David Barfield and wife Gracie; brother Barnie Barfield and wife Patricia; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, two brothers and a granddaughter.
 
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Massey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Westside Cemetery.
 
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of South Texas, St. Paul Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.

Lee Gus Kolodziejcyk, Sr., 74, of Wharton passed away March 15, 2014. Lee was born in Yorktown, TX, on June 25, 1939, to the late Alois and Matilda Kolodziejcyk. He served 3 years in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Witco Chemical for 34 years in purchasing.  In his retirement he enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was Catholic.
 
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia A. Berger and husband, Michael; sons, Lee G. Kolodziejcyk Jr. and wife, Cathy, Joseph D. Kolodziejcyk and wife, Misty and Kevin M. Kolodziejcyk.; brother, Alois Kolodziejcyk Jr.; sisters, Alta Woytasczyk, Evelyn Feller, and Mary Ann Kendel; grandchildren, Kelley Johnson, Tiffany Wise, Brittany Kolodziejcyk, Kristi Wise, Garrett Kolodziejcyk, and Daniel Kolodziejcyk; and great-grandchildren, Kade Johnson, Jaydon Johnson and Clayton Wise.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Victor Kolodziejcyk and Alvin Kolodziejcyk Sr ; and grandson Ronald Wise.
 
Visitation will be held 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:15 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2014, at Finch Funeral Chapel in Yorktown. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown with Father Roger Hawes officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Yorktown.
 
Serving as pallbearers will be Kip Hasselmeier, Billy Horelica, Michael Berger, Alvin Kolodziejcyk Jr, Allen Kolodziejcyk and Dale Kolodziejcyk.
