Peter Styra, 86, of Yorktown died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014. He was born Jan. 29, 1927 in DeWitt County to the late Peter and Lucy Danysch Styra. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, he served in the US Army, 27th Infantry Division, 165th Regiment, and served in the Occupation Forces in Japan. He was a life member of the VFW post 8136, retired from the Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department, and was employed by DeWitt Motor Company in sales and parts. He enjoyed dominoes and golf at the Yorktown Country Club.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Domann Styra of Yorktown, sons David Styra and wife Donna of Yorktown, Peter Styra II of Austin, daughter Christy Lemke and husband Keith of Yorktown. He is also survived by his grandchildren Dee Irish and husband Mark, Dusty Weise and husband Adrian, DeLayne Styra, Tyler Lemke and Clayton Lemke, and four great grandsons.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Elizabeth Strakos, Agatha Onken and brother Frank M. Styra Sr.
Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Jan. 22 with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Massey Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Jan. 23 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mark Irish, Adrian Weise, Tyler Lemke, Clayton Lemke, James Kaiser, Guy Riemenschneider. Honorary pallbearers were Dee Irish, Dusty Weise, DeLayne Styra, Marvin Stanchos and his nieces and nephews.
