
Marvin F. Stanchos, 87, of Yorktown, died Sunday July 20, 2014. He was born Dec. 23, 1926 in Yorktown, to the late Ferdinand and Hedwig Sauermilch Stanchos. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Yorktown. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was active member of the Yorktown VFW, American Legion and Gruenau Turn & Schuetzen Verein. He was a farmer and rancher in DeWitt County, and worked for Keseling Metal Works in Cuero for 25 years.
He is survived by his children Deborah Geffert and husband Roger, Kenneth Stanchos and wife Linda, Donald Stanchos and wife Peggy; grandchildren Jason Geffert and wife Sarah, Ross Geffert and wife Amanda Beth, Amanda Kaye Smith and husband Greg, Dori Villarreal and husband Justin, Adam Stanchos and wife Amanda Marie, Jeremy Stanchos and wife Amy, Clifford Stanchos and wife Madeline, four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Lorene Koopmann and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marvin is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Stanchos, parents, and sisters Marion Sheehan and Velma Spellmann.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday July 22, 2014 at First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
