
Wilfred Riedesel was born on July 19, 1926 in Yorktown, Texas to Herman and Marie Riedesel. A farmer, rancher, and postal worker, he was a resident of Yorktown his entire life. He is a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Weesatche.
During World War II Wilfred served in the Army’s 1716th Signal Service to the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and to the Occupation Forces in Japan. He was honorably discharged on November 22, 1946. He married Dorothy Lee (Dohmann) Riedesel on July 3, 1949. They have three daughters, all residents of Seguin: Connie Sue Meyer married to Pastor Stanley Meyer, Rhonda Beth Grein married Glenn Grein, Nathalie Marie Hall.
Wilfred is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy, who is a resident of the Yorktown Manor; and their three daughters. They have seven grandchildren: Aaron Meyer, married to Laura Moench (Minneapolis, MN), Micheal Meyer, married to Sam Marie Hermitte (Austin, TX), Daniel Meyer, married to Jennifer Meyer (Sarasota, FL), Garrett Grein (Seguin), Graison Grein (deceased), Jeffery Hall (Seguin), and Emilee HallRocha, married to Fagner Magrinelli Rocha (Lubbock). He and Dorothy also have three greatgrandchildren: Isaac Meyer, Adelle Meyer Hermitte, and Johann Meyer.
Wilfred is the sixth of seven children born to Herman and Marie Riedesel. He is survived by only one sibling, his younger brother, Roland Riedesel of Yorktown. Five other siblings have preceded him in death: Pauline Metting, John Riedesel, Herman Riedesel, Fritz Riedesel, and Olivia Janssen.
Visitation will be 5–8 PM, Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Finch Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be 2 PM, Sunday, August 17, 2014, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Weesatche with the Rev. C.B. Suggs officiating. Interment will follow at St. Andrews Lutheran Cemetery.
