Eugene Janyssek, 96, of Yorktown, passed away August 17, 2014. He was born February 25, 1918, in Nordheim, to the late John and Sallie Broll Janyssek. He was honorably discharged from the Army and went into the Air Force from which he retired as a MSGT and during his time in the military, he fought in WWII and the Korean War. After retiring from the Air Force, he went to work at Kelly AFB in aircraft maintenance.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and brother and sisterinlaw, Daniel and Louise Janyssek.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Janyssek; 7 stepchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; best Air Force buddy, Louis Pish; and many loving friends.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Finch Funeral Chapel.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Roger Hawes officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church building fund.
