
Laura Jeanine Brown, 53, lost her hard-fought battle with cancer on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at her home in Kingwood surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her husband of twenty-seven years, Larry; daughters, Jillian Blythe Brown, Ryan Rock Shelton and husband, Kirby Shelton; grandchildren, Zach Shelton and Ian Anthony Shelton; mother, Lydia Carrera; sister, Belinda Simpson and husband Brad Simpson; brothers, Charles Carrera and wife, Renita Carrera, Rodney Carrera; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Carrera; her son, Brett Anthony Brown, and her brother-in-law, Allen Brown. Laura wa born in Yorktown on July 31, 1961, and graduated from Yorktown High School in 1979. She was a long-time member of the Kingwood United Methodist Church, and had been a beloved employee at Rowland-Ballard School of Dance and Gymnastics since 2006.
Laura loved music, the Dallas Cowboys, attending the annual “Nutracker” productions, and decorating her home every Christmas with her legendary snowman collection. She gave service to the community over four years in commitment to the National Charity League with Jillian. She was full of love and life, and even during her final months, kept her spirits up, refused to give up the fight, and never allowed others to give up on her. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
