
Rollie “Polly” Schultz, 96, of Cuero passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014.
She was born Nov. 1, 1917 in DeWitt County to the late Rena Dubose and Rollie R. Palmer. She married Rubin Schultz, Sr., of Cuero on Feb. 2, 1936, and they shared 56 happy years together. She was a loving Christian wife and mother and was active in her younger years at the First Baptist Church serving as President of the WMU as well as various Sunday school departments. She worked as a clerk at the Fair Department Store in Cuero for over twenty years. Polly loved her life, family, and especially traveling to Colorado and Branson. For over 20 years she traveled with her daughter and husband and camping friends, the Whittens, Bridges, and Gunters. She celebrated her 95th birthday in Branson, Missouri with her family.
She is survived by her son, Rubin Schultz (Nancy) of Corpus Christi; daughter, Peggy Ledbetter (Ron) of Cuero; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Lela Palmer and Gladys Sisco; and brother, William Palmer.
Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Freund Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Hairston and Dr. Glenn Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Ledbetter, Jr., Owen DeKoch, Ethan DeKoch, Randy Phillips, Tim Matthews, Sam Jones, and Willie Johnson. Honorary pallbearer is Fred Gunter.
Special thanks to Nelda Hill, Rose Johnson, and Clara Chatman who gave Polly loving care during her short illness.
