WEESATCHE - Hayden Chester Baacke, 86, of Weesatche died Thursday, September 4, 2014. He was born June 11, 1928 in DeWitt County, Texas to the late Gustav F. and Emile Peters Baacke.
He married Elsie Louise Lude on September 11, 1949 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown, Texas. He was a roustabout foreman retiring in 1987 and then began ranching until 2000. He was a member of Goliad American Legion, Hermann Sons Lodge, Weesatche Volunteer Fire Department, and St. Andrew Lutheran Church-Weesatche.
He is survived daughters, Patty (Allen) Kolodziejcyk of Yorktown and Peggy (V. C.) Cowey of Goliad. Brother, Roman (Elfie) Baacke of Yorktown. Grandchildren, Shannon (Kenny) Kegebein, Gary (Amanda) Cowey and Nicole (Jarrod) Stepanski and great grandchildren, Katelynn Kegebein, James Morgan Kegebein, Kaylynn Cowey, and Kassidy Cowey.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant daughter, sisters, Lorena Franke and Bernice Arnecke, brothers, Garland, Virguel, Alois, and Milton Baacke.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Massey Funeral Home in Yorktown. Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Weesatche, Texas. Interment followed at St. Andrew Lutheran Cemetery in Weesatche.
Active pallbearers will be Preston Franke Jr., Glenn Karnei, Garrett Lude, Clinton Baacke, Steven Schulze, Gerald Allison, and Paul Wauson.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church or Hospice of South Texas.
