Gilbert Wagner

 

Gilbert Lawrence Wagner, 92, of Goliad, passed away on August 19, 2014 in Victoria, Texas.
 
He was born in Yorktown on March 20, 1922 to the late Emil and Anna Rohan Wagner.  
 
Gilbert was a Veteran of WWII and served in the United States Army. He was a Catholic.
 
Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Florine Willms Wagner; second wife Helen Cobb Wagner; two brothers, Edwin and Victor Wagner;  and two sisters, Olga Babin and Elizabeth Pokluda.
 
He is survived by: daughters, Kathy (Ed) Zaitz, Marilyn (Gary) Moreland, Becky (Tookie) Ramsey; sons, Edward and Joseph (Rhonda) Wagner; sisters, Leona (Walter) Berckenhoff, Anna Mae Ryan, Doris Boldt;  brothers Al (Myrlin) Wagner, 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
 
Pallbearers were his grandsons and honorary pallbearers were the Round Table Group at Goliad Dairy Queen.
 
Visitation was held and a Rosary said on Aug. 21 at Goliad Funeral Home in Goliad.
 
Funeral Mass was held on Aug. 22 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Goliad with Father Ralph Baidoo officiating.
 
Burial with Military Honors was held at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery in Port Lavaca.
 
Memorials may be made to Goliad Senior Citizens Center or donor’s choice.
