
Gregorio O. Gomez Jr. passed away on November 3, 2014 at the age of 85. He was born on September 27, 1929 in Yorktown, TX to Gregorio and Juanita “Ochoa” Gomez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Eva Nino, Emma Trevino and Juanita Rios; brother, Robert Gomez; and grandson, Gregory Gomez IV; survived by his loving wife, Ofilia Serna Gomez; son, Gregory Gomez III (Elida); daughters, Christine Ruth Castro (Lauro), Orpha Linda Flores (John); grandchildren, April Memory Bloxsom (Chris), Jenifer Lynn Lewis (Jason), Lauro Gomez Castro (Amanda) and Gregorio Gomez Castro; great-grandchildren, Tate Ory Bloxsom and Victoria Ann Castro.
Gregorio proudly served in the US Army stateside from 1950 to 1956 as a medic. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Bible from the University of Corpus Christi, Masters of Divinity, and of Religious Education from Southwestern Theological and Seminary-Fort Worth and his Dr. of Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary. He preached the word of God throughout the region of Trujillo, Peru during the month of October 2014 and served as a guest lecturer of Missions at the Seminario Bautista de Peru. Gregorio also wrote four books entitled: Sermones de Victoria (Junto al Mar), Somos Mas Que Vencedores, No Te Quites Los Zapatos and Dame, Pues, Ahora Esta Montana.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
