
Helen Kraege, 95, of Yorktown passed away Wednesday Nov. 12, 2014. She was born July 13, 1919 in Stewart’s Prairie, Texas to the late Thomas and Pauline Pfeiffer Stamps. She graduated from Waelder High School as valedictorian in 1937 and graduated from University of Business in Austin in 1938. She was active in the community serving as Cub Scout den leader, room mother for both Thomas and Kay’s classes. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was the bookkeeper for Kraege Drugstore from 1947 until retiring in 2004 at the age of 85.
Helen is survived by her son Thomas Kraege of Yorktown, daughter Kay (Joe) Ryan of Smithville, TX, granddaughter Casey (Justin) Winpigler, grandson Sonny (Paula) Ryan, great grandchildren Christina and Tyler,and soon to arrive great granddaughter Keilani Winpigler, also a great great granddaughter Madelynn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 67 years, Roland Kraege Jr. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Willie, Gus, Irvin and Elmer Stamps.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm Thursday Nov. 13, 2014 at Massey Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 am Friday Nov. 14, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Westside Cemetery.
