Mary Gonzales Fox, 80, of Cuero passed away Monday, November 24, 2014. She was born on September 23, 1934 in Cuero to the late Manuel C. Gonzales and Maria Cantu Gonzales. She married Marvin E. Fox on November 26, 1956 in Cuero. Mary was in the family restaurant business for 58 years, and for 30 of those years as the owner of The Longhorn Ranch Restaurant in Cuero. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was known best for her unselfish acts of kindness. Her all time favorite holiday was Christmas where she lived for shopping, giving gifts, and spending time with her family. Everyone who knew her, loved her. Her greatest joy came “when children gather round their tree” (Tudor Jenks).
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years; daughters, Shirley Saenz (Ricky) of Cuero, Tina Orosco (Ray) of Cuero, and Stacey Ressman (Stephen) of Cuero; sister, Hortencia Moya of Schertz; brothers, Joe C. Gonzales (Ellie) of Cuero and Richard Gonzales (Mackie) of Cuero; grandchildren, Karl Saenz (Jill), Jenni Pinson (Richard), Brandon Orosco (Candace), and Trent Orosco (Jennifer); and great-grandchildren, Kerstyn, Kylie, Kloey Saenz, Lincoln Orosco, Lainee Ballin, Bainen and Bodie Orosco, and Alexa Pinson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Virginia Gonzales, Theresa Garcia, Minnie Henson, and Ophelia Coggins; brothers, Pete C. Gonzales and Manuel C. Gonzales; and granddaughter, Kristi Saenz.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 28, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home with the Rosary at 5:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 29, 11 a.m., at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Karl Saenz, Brandon Orosco, Trent Orosco, Arthur Ray Gonzales, Richard Pinson, and Mike Sarlls. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Saenz, Ray Orosco, Stephen Ressman, and Ernie Berger.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic School Endowment Fund or Blue Santa with an unwrapped toy or monetary donation.
