
Lamar Henry Koehler, 83, of Corpus Christi passed away November 23, 2014. He was born April 16, 1931, in Runge, Texas to the late Henry W. and Emma Buendel Koehler. Lamar is survived by his wife, Athalee Jacob Koehler; son, Randell L. Koehler (Linda); daughters, Vickie Reilly and Kim Owens; grandchildren, Amanda (Wade) Beutnagel, Sarah (Carl) Brandes, Shaun Reilly and Megan Parma; great-grandchildren, Hunner and Zaynee Parma; brother, Kermit (Doris) Koehler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Kristin Reilly, and great-grandson, Bowen Beutnagel. Lamar graduated from Nordheim High School in 1948. He proudly served his country in the Army from1954-1956. In 1956 Lamar met the love of his life, Athalee Jacob. They were married in a double wedding on September 1, 1957, in Yorktown, Texas. Lamar worked 28 years for Western Electric as an installer until his retirement in 1987. After retirement Lamar enjoyed spending time at his ranch in Runge, Texas, feeding his cattle, drinking coffee with his buddies and spending time with his grandchildren. Lamar never met a stranger and after talking to someone for mere minutes, he could often trace them back as a distant relative.
Visitation was held at Cage-Mills Funeral Home on November 25, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service as also held at Cage-Mills Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on November 26, 2014. Pastor Mark Behrendt officiated.
Burial followed at Nordheim Cemetery in Nordheim, Texas.
Pallbearers were Shaun Reilly, Darren Koehler, terry Koehler, Jeff Koehler, Benjamin (Benny) Mumme and Carl Brandes. Memorials should be made to donor’s choice.
