Ellarien Helen Arndt

Ellarien Helen Arndt passed away on December 21, 2014 at the age of 99 years. She was born on October 22, 1915 on the family farm near Meyersville, Texas to Alfred H. and Rosalie Diebel Martin. Ellarien remained on the farm in her youth.
She enjoyed gardening, quilting, playing dominoes, and being a housewife and mother. She was a life-long Lutheran and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lindenau. She and her parents often spoke German when speaking to each other. 
 
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Waldemar E. Tietz and her second husband, Elo J. Arndt, as well as two brothers, Wilfred and Alton Martin, and her granddaughter, Sara Clare Tietz.
 
She is survived by her two sons, Ronnie Tietz and wife, Sissy, of San Antonio and Jerry Tietz and wife, Janet, of Cuero; grandchildren, Susan Tietz Gammage of Austin, Jennifer Tietz Gwin and husband, Mark, of San Antonio, Jason Tietz and wife, Shara, of Houston, and Amy Blank and husband, Josh, of Victoria; and nine great-grandchildren.
 
Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. Services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Cuero with Reverend Jeff Thompson officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Yorktown at 3:30 p.m. following a reception at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
