
Bernice “Rocky” Junker, age 86 of Seguin, passed away on December 19, 2014. Rocky was born in Cuero, Texas on May 10, 1928 to Barney Lawrence and Winnie Elizabeth (McBride) Aldis.
She married the late Leonel “Jack” Junker on July 31, 1946 and the young family relocated to Seguin. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; Rocky surely knew how to take care of everyone. A nurse at the practice of Dr. Moore in Seguin, which she retired from, to caregiver of her heart’s love, Jack until his passing in June, 2013. Devoted Christian of Faith Lutheran Church, she could be found on Sunday donning her newest hat in the company of her loving congregation. She enjoyed traveling to see family, day trips to the coast, hosting dinner parties, fishing, dove and deer hunting, and helping in raising her two grandsons of son Richard “Dickie” Junker, Sr., who passed away early in his life, in 1986. Her heart was full of love and overflowing with joy upon the arrival of her first, and only great-grandbaby, Olivia Amelia who arrived on the day of her dear husband’s memorial service. She has spent the past eighteen months with that baby girl on her lap, reading, singing, and playing. “Aba” as Olivia calls her, will be missed beyond words.
She leaves this Earth to join her Lord and Savior in Heaven and to be with Jack and her son, Dickie. Leaving behind her grandson Richard D. Junker, Jr., his wife Stephanie and their daughter Olivia of Adkins, Texas, her grandson Kirt A. Junker of San Antonio, Texas, sister Sybil and husband William Gruetzmacher of Houston, Texas, brother-in-law Alton L. Junker of Cuero, Texas, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
A memorial service celebrating Rocky’s life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Seguin with Rev. Dr. Paul M. Cross officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero, Texas.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Family Disaster Fund at Faith Lutheran Church or to Faith Lutheran church, 1326 E. Cedar St., Seguin, Texas, 78155.
