Kenneth Oliver “Shine” Overby, 87, of Victoria, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015. He was born April 4, 1927 in Kenedy to Robert and Oda Overby. He was a veteran of the United States Army, served as a Merchant Marine, and was a military police officer. Kenneth married Doris Heisler on June 19, 1951 in Cuero. He worked for Shar-Alan Oil Company as a production superintendent until retirement.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Doris Overby; sons, Thomas Lee Overby, Robert Edward Overby, and David Laschinger; sisters, Margie Knight, Loretta Young, and Texie B. (Tek) Odem; and grandchildren, Kenneth Thomas Lee Overby, Cory Overby, Mandi Overby, Evan Overby, and Kristin Jade Villarreal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jean Jackson and Beatrice “Teeny” Brockman; and brother, “Dude” Overby.
Services will be Saturday, February 21, 2015, 1 p.m., at Freund Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Jimmy Lane, Darrell Knight, Rodney Radford, Gayle Knight, Alan West, Dewayne Young, and Michael Overby with Lee Overby serving as an honorary pallbearer.
