John Franklin Bolting, 74, passed away on Wednesday, May 27 in his home, surrounded by his loved ones. John was the fourth of five children born to the late Otto and Alice Bolting. He was raised in Nordheim and was a graduate of Nordheim High School, Class of 1958. In 1960, John married Margie Stirl, his high school sweetheart, who was a fellow classmate and childhood friend.

John and Margie moved to Yorktown, where they raised their family and were active in the community. John was a certified automobile mechanic, starting his career at DeWitt Motor Company and continuing his career with Weber Motor Company, during which time he was recognized for outstanding service many times by Ford Motor Company.

In 1997, he founded his own company, Corner Service and Sales. He not only took pride in his work and business but truly relished the friends he made while serving the community of Yorktown and surrounding areas.

John served as a volunteer fireman for the Yorktown Fire Department for over twenty-five years, serving many years as Assistant Fire Chief, and he was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. After retiring in 2006, John enjoyed spending time with his family and enjoying the outdoors as a farmer and rancher, generously sharing his fresh produce with family and friends.

John will be forever remembered by his devoted wife, family, and friends. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Margie (Stirl) Bolting; his daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Robert Roth of Houston; his treasured grandchildren Corrigan, Zachary, and Carter Roth of Houston, Ben Bolting of Rockport, and Jamie Bolting of Yorktown; and beloved siblings Georgia (Bolting) Guzy and O. F. Bolting, as well as countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.

John is preceded in death by his son Wayne Franklin Bolting, his grandson Christian Johnathon “CJ” Roth, his brother Carroll James Bolting, his sister Iva Mae Bolting, and his parents Otto and Alice Bolting.

John touched the lives of many members of the community with his warm-heart and generosity. He viewed everyone as a friend and “never knew a stranger.” He was endlessly devoted to his wife, children, and grandsons. He will live on through the wonderful memories held by his family and friends.
