Bernice Thamm Rabke Bammert

Bernice Thamm Rabke Bammert, 97, of Cuero crossed into the heavenly realm June 1, 2015. She was born July 3, 1917 to Fred Arthur and Emma Junker Thamm in Arneckeville. She married Marvin F. Rabke on February 5, 1935; he preceded her in death October 17, 1971. She later married Englebert “Bert” Bammert on February 17, 1979; he passed away February 17, 1980. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Cuero and worked for many years at the Cuero Livestock Commission Co.
 
Bernice is survived by her children, daughter Kathlyn Sager of Arneckeville, son Leslie Rabke (Catherine) of Cuero, step-son E.J. Bammert of Goliad and sister-in-law Adeline Wolf Thamm of Cuero, six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
 
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Marvin F. Rabke and Engelbert “Bert” Bammert, daughter Emalyn Rabke, brothers Ruben Thamm of Meyersville and Fred O. “Fritz” Thamm of Arneckville, and sisters-in-law Rita Egg Thamm of Meyersville, Corinne Rabke Soehnge Parker of Yoakum, and Lornette Rabke Dukes of Cuero.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 1 p.m., followed by funeral service at 2 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero with Pastor Jeff Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero.
 
Pallbearers include great-grandsons John Marvin Sager, Jacob Sager, Dalton Sager, Michael Newman, Tate Bammert, and Sheldon Bammert.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
