Anne Burns Koehler, native of Yoakum and 70-year resident of Cuero, Texas passed on to the Lord our God the evening of June 7, 2015. She had recently moved to an assisted living facility in Fort Worth, where her surviving son Terry is working.
Anne’s life was filled with joy and genuine concern for others. She was a charter member of Cuero Country Club and a charter member of Pink Ladies auxiliary at Cuero Community Hospital. Also a charter member of LIFFT (Ladies In Friendship and Faith Together). A lifelong Methodist, Anne was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cuero since 1945, where she joined in many charitable activities and taught Sunday School for many years.
She was an avid bridge player and participated in weekly bridge games with her closest friends most of her life. After her boys became Texas Aggies, she dearly loved her Aggie football games on television, but had no interest in any other televised sports.
Most of all, Anne Koehler was a loving wife and doting mother. Her boys, Fritz and Terry, often said they were raised in Mayberry by Ozzie and Harriet, as she provided for an idyllic childhood for them both. She shuttled them to the golf course, Little League games and numerous area junior golf tournaments during each summer. To the north Cuero neighborhood kids, she was always there with lemonade, Koolaid and cookies, cakes or pies.
Anne reunites in Heaven with her beloved husband, Frederick Buchel (Fritz) Koehler, and her son Fritz, and all her family and friends who passed before her. She is survived by her younger son, Terry Burns Koehler and his wife Sherrie of Victoria, Texas; grandsons Christopher Buchel Koehler and wife Ann of Wylie, Texas and Matthew Hardy Koehler and wife Ashley of Boise, Idaho, and great-grandchildren Abigail, Mallory, Brecken, Charlotte, Peyton, Aidan and Emma. She is also survived by her niece, Diane Schwab of Garland, Texas and nephew Richard (Dick) Schwab and wife Denise, of Austin.
It was Anne’s wish that, in lieu of flowers or other gifts, contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13 at First United Methodist Church.
