Daniel “Hoogie” Roch Hooge Jr.

   Daniel “Hoogie” Roch Hooge Jr. died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at his home in Driscoll. 
   Dan was born in San Antonio to Daniel R Hooge Sr. and Marguerite Biediger Hooge on Jan. 28, 1930. He grew up in San Antonio and became a welder in his uncle’s shop at a very young age. He joined the Navy on Oct. 1, 1946. He retired from Reynolds Metals. After his retirement he worked as a self employed welder. Later starting his own business, Dan Hooge Welding Service in Yorktown where he lived for many years. He went to work for USA Gas Pipeline in McCloud. After that he worked for Texas Boll Weevil. He loved hunting and drag racing.
   Dan is survived by his wife, Hazel, his sister, Dolly and her six children. He is also survived by his children, Diane (Keith Ray) Smith, Daniel R Hooge III (Kathy), Kimberly Mueller, Jessie (Lindey) Sappington and Mary (Buck) Fox. Dan is also survived by his grandchildren, Shane, Kyndra, Jacob, Kate, Mitchell, Sydnee, Reagan, Hunter, Ben, Ethan and great grandchildren, Nikki, Sabre, Chase and Troy. 
   Services were held at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m. Jan. 14. 
   The family thanks Odyssey Hospice and Prime Care.
