Billy Joe White, 80, was born January 23, 1935 in Cuero, Texas to Albert and Ethel Holland White of Cuero. Billy passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 13, 2015. He worked for the United States Postal Services until he retired in 1995. After retirement, he continued to shred pastures because he loved to ride his tractor. He also loved competing in barbecue competitions, camping, drinking coffee with friends at Dairy Queen in morning and enjoying cold beer in the evening on the back patio. Billy was also on the Cuero Turkeyfest board for several years, president of the Coleto Creek barbecue Association and a member of Masonic Lodge #409. He was loving son, brother, husband, step dad, grand “Pa” and father.
Billy is survived by his wife, Patricia Riddle White; his step son and daughter in law, Clayton Ty and Becky Dromgoole; his step daughter and son in law, Misty and Robert Knox; his grandchildren, Clayton Storm, Preslie, and Paige Dromgoole and Brennlie, Colin, Brier, Jessa and Devyn Knox all of Cuero. He is also survived by his sister in law Doris White of Cuero and Georgia Mae White of Wharton; brother in law Richard Riddle and his sister in law and her husband, Roxanne and Henry Flores all of Cuero. He is also survived by his son, Billy “Bud” White Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Yoakum and June White DeBord and her husband Ronnie of Edna and their son and daughter in law Todd and Molly DeBord of San Antonio. Billy is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Albert and Ethel White, his brothers Odell White, Sr. and Cecil White, his sister Jerry White Moore, his daughter, Jill Cleo White and his grandson, Logan Reed Dromgoole.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 10 AM at Lifeway Baptist Church in Cuero with the funeral service to follow at 11AM. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero. Reception to follow back at Lifeway Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Odell White, Jr., Richard Riddle, Henry Flores, Jack Calk, Phillip Hoefling, and Eric Gaus. Honorary pallbearers are Glen and Thomas Moore, Jimmy Bulgerin, Joe Birchum, Glen Volkmer, Ryan and Trent Kainer, and the Dairy Queen Coffee Crew.
