Helen R. Gomez, 86, of Cuero passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015. She was born August 18, 1929 in Nixon to the late Leonardo Rocha and Guadalupe Montalvo Rocha. She married the love of her life, Joe O. Gomez, in 1946. She loved family gatherings, cooking, gardening, holidays, attending Bible studies, and enjoyed gospel singings.
She is survived by her daughters, Lupe Galindo of Cuero, Rosemary Compian of Victoria; sons, Jesse Gomez of Austin, Joe Gomez, Jr. and wife, Mercedes, of La Marque; sister, Josie Fuentes of Corpus Christi; brother, Paul Rocha of San Antonio; grandchildren, Kevin Galindo, Michael Galindo, Calvin Gomez, Amber Salazar, Michael Delgado, Steven Deleon, John Delgado; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband.
Visitation will be held at Freund Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 23 between 6-8 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, Sept. 24 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Westhoff, beginning at 2 p.m. with Father Charles officiating. Interment will follow at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Michael Galindo, Kevin Galindo, Calvin Gomez, Steven Deleon, Michael Delgado, John Delgado, Eric Deleon, and John Julian Deleon. Honorary pallbearers will include Jesse Gomez, and Joe Gomez.
Memorial contributions may be made out to the charity of the donor's choice.
