Theodre (Ted) Jones was born Jan. 20, 1932 in Cuero, son of the late Jimmy Jones and Isabel Foster Taylor. His education began at Daule School where in May 1948 he received is Elementary School Diploma and Certificate of Promotion to High School. After leaving his beloved Daule, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a nurse in the Pediatric Ward. He received his Honorable Discharge the 14th day of November 1958.
He went on to achieve and receive numerous accomplishments and recognitions. June 1956, he received from Los Angeles Trade-Technical Junior College a Certificate of Proficiency in Custodian Engineer. December 1969, State of California – State Board of Registration for Civil Professional Engineers duly registered him as a Civil Engineer. March 1976, California State College, Dominguez Hills presented him with a Certificate of Portal Program in Administration. Theodre received his Master of Science degree in Administration in August 1977. In June 1985, he was awarded an Educational Achievement in Effective Zoning Administration Techniques form University of Wisconsin – The Department of Engineering and Applied Science. And as so many more.
After 21 years with the Los Angeles County, Theodre received his Retirement Certificate, January, 1982. His last assignment there was as a senior building official for the city of Carson. Theodre was then named Inglewood Building Superintendent, which he began Dec. 1, 1982. He later became the Sr. Deputy Director of Building & Safety of Beverly Hills, California.
Ted’s greatest accomplishments were his children. His son, David T. Jones, whom he loved spending time with, especially the times they spent together on the golf course. He was also blessed with a daughter, Angela D. Johnson and cherished her love. He was very proud of all they have been able to accomplish.
On April 11, 1987, Ted married his loving wife, the former Darlene Washington. This union provided Ted with two children, a bonus daughter; Darless and son; Youless Valentine. The family lived in Inglewood, California before moving to San Antonio.
Ted adored the Lord deeply and was a very sensitive, compassionate, caring soul who loved his family, friends and others with an undying, undeniable love; and believe it or not, he did have a sense of humor. Ted accepted the Lord at a young age and never looked back. He went on to become a Sunday School teacher, a deacon and was active in several different capacities within the church throughout his long life. Serving the Lord was his priority. Upon arrival in San Antonio, he and his family united with Greater Corinth Baptist Church. Ted received his Certificate of Completion in the “Discovering Church Membership” on Nov. 21, 1999, under the leadership of Pastor Carl Johnson. He and his wife united with University Baptist Church in February 2015, to be closer to their residence due to his failing health.
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, Ted was “pronounced alive in Heaven” at 4:41 a.m. and arrived safely and peacefully in the arms of Jesus. Now he supervises and coordinates the activities and operations as a heavenly deputy in God’s Kingdom.

Jones of Astoria, NY, Ashlee L. Dunn, Paul G. Dunn, Devyn A. Johnson, Gavyn C. Johnson all of Carson, California and Youless T. Valentine, brother: Leslie Foster (Mattie), aunt: Susie B. Booker, uncle: J. B. Stewart of West Jordan, UT, eight step-sisters, six step-brothers, two sister-in-law’s, two brother-in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
