Wilburn Arndt

Wilburn Earl Arndt, 87, of Lindenau passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2015. He was born Aug. 6, 1928 in Lindenau to Adolph and Welhimina Kahlich Arndt. Wilburn married the love of his life, Dorothy Ann Frels, on Dec. 2, 1952 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cuero. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, and a life member of Cuero VFW Post 3972, Westhoff American Legion Post 369, and the Grand Lodge of the Sons of Hermann. He was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Lindenau, the Lindenau Rifle Club and Past President of the Lindenau Community Cemetery. Wilburn was one of the original members of the Cuero High School band in the 1940's, was a faithful Gobbler fan who loved all sports, was a retired CISD bus driver, and served on the Westhoff ISD School Board. He was former co-owner of ABZ catering, and was a retired rancher, farmer, and meat/sausage processor. Wilburn loved to cook, play dominoes, and cherished time spent with his family.
 
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter Barbara Hartman (Harold) of Cuero; son, David Arndt (Brenda) of Cuero; brother, Clarence Arndt (Alva) of Cuero; grandchildren, Bradley Hartman of Pearland and Medesa Rodriguez of Refugio; and five great-grandchildren.
 
Wilburn was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lee Alice Borchardt; and brother, Elo John Arndt.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 30 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church - Lindenau with Rev. William Hill officiating. Interment will follow at the Lindenau Community Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers are Bradley Hartman, Tomas Rodriguez, Randall Arndt, Michael Arndt, Oscar Wolter, Jr. and Ronnie Wolter. Honorary pallbearers include Jerry Tietz, Norman Kahlich, Delvin Arndt, Curtis Koenig, Ricky West, Stephen Rath, Boyd Carson, Dennis Lincke, Wilburn's five great-grandchildren, Dr. Dan Dugi and Dr. Raymond Reese.
 
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lindenau Community Cemetery, Cuero VFW Post 3972 or donor's choice.
