
Robert “Bob” W. Farris, Sr., 91, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016. He was born Oct. 1, 1924 in Houston to Bob and Muriel Farris. Bob married the love of his life, Maxine Marie Knodel, Feb. 16, 1951. He served in the United States Air Force as a Navigator flying special night missions during the Korean War. Bob started his automobile career at Byron Brown Oldsmobile in Houston, then continued his career at Bud Moore Chevrolet until 1976 when he purchased his dealership in Cuero, until he retired in 2008 at the age of 83. He was very active in the Cuero VFW Post 3972 for many years, was a long time Mason, and a member of Cuero First United Methodist Church for over 40 years. Bob loved being around his family and helping them when needed. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will truly be missed by all; “he was a true gentleman.”
He is survived by daughter, Karen Konarik of Sealy; sons, Robert W. Farris Jr. and wife, Anne, of Edna, David W. Farris and wife, Betty, of Cuero, Ronald E. Farris and wife, Belva, of Cuero, and Wendell Bettis of Cuero; grandchildren, Fallon Navarro, Whitney Konarik, Caitlin Konarik, Jenna Caskey, Michael Farris, Cameron Farris, Case Farris, Kevin Jahn and Keith Jahn and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; infant brother, Fred Farris; and step-father, Chester Green.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service beginning at 7 p.m. Interment will be Friday, Jan. 29 at 10 a.m. at Hollywood Cemetery in Houston.
