Ruby Merle Miller Parker

Ruby Merle Miller Parker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at her home in Smiley on Nov. 20, 2013. 
 
She was born March 21, 1930 in Smiley, the youngest daughter of the late Louie and Jessie (Aldis) Miller. She and Edwin Parker married on July 10, 1948 and settled in Smiley where they raised four children. In 1969 she became a teacher assistant at Nixon–Smiley Consolidated Independent School District. She loved her time with the kids retiring in 1996. Ruby was happiest when surrounded by her family and loved to cook and bake for them. She loved to play Scrabble and was usually the champion. She also enjoyed movies, theater, and traveling.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Evelyn Montgomery, Maggie Smith, and Lola English; her nieces Janelle Smith and Hazel English; and her nephew James Allen Smith.
 
Left to cherish precious memories are her husband Edwin; her brother Edward Ray Miller; her daughter Marsha St. Clair and husband Charles; her sons, Larry Parker and wife Rita, John Parker and wife Nancy, Ricky Parker and wife Donna; her grandchildren: Farrah Fossett, Lauren Beck, Amanda Ramsey, Jacque McGrath, Sami Moss, Brian Moss, Alan St. Clair, Angela Woodard, and 12 great-grandchildren: Aubrey Fossett, Parker Fossett, Davis Fossett, Dalton Ramsey, Dylan Ramsey, Jenna Beck, Quinten Moss, Matthew Moss, Garrett Moss, Jacob Shoemaker, Joshua Shoemaker, and Jordan Shoemaker. 
 
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at Finch Funeral Chapel of Nixon. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at Finch Chapel. Burial will follow at the Bundick Cemetery near Smiley. Chaplain Janet Hunter will officiate. 
 
Pallbearers are Larry Parker, John Parker, Ricky Parker, Adam Fossett, Brandon Beck, and Gary Freeman.
