Ella Garcia Ruiz, age 82, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016. She was born Oct. 16, 1933 in Midway to Gilbert and Alicia Vera Garcia.
She was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She faithfully volunteered at St. Michael’s Catholic Church at the monthly bingos and the yearly Jamaica at Our Lady of Gradalupe. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and spent time caring for other people in different ways throughout her life.
Survivors include her daughter, Rachel Schmidt (Dennis) of Austin; sons, Roland Ruiz (Janie) of Friendswood, Roy Ruiz (Muriel) of Hitchcock, Raymond Ruiz of Cuero and Randall Ruiz (Amy) of Cuero; grandchildren, Roland Ruiz, Jr., Sarabeth Ruiz, Jonathan Ruiz, Kera Ruiz, Michaela Ruiz, John Thomas Ruiz, and James Colton Ruiz; brother, Edwin Garca (Ninfa) of San Antonio; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The rosary was at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum. Funeral Mass was held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cuero.
Pallbearers included Carlos Vera, George Garcia, Hector Ruiz, Willie Vera, Raymond Garcia and Michael Ruiz.
Memorial contributions may be given to Jamaica at the church or CAMAL House.
