Consuelo ‘Connie’ Villarreal, age 95, was born on April 23, 1921 to Justo Esquibel and Felipa Segura Esquibel in Dodge City, Kansas. She was called home on Sept. 7, 2016. She met her husband, Ramon S. Villarreal Jr., while he was stationed in Dodge City, Kansas during WWII. They were married in Del Rio, Texas in July 1944. They lived in Del Rio and Dodge City, then retired to Cuero.
Everyone knew her as ‘Grandma Connie.’ No one came to her house and left hungry. She was known for her laughter, her loving terms of endearment and her cooking. She welcomed everyone; she was a nurturer. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was dearly loved by them.
She is survived by her daughter Carol Kline (Bob) of Dodge City, KS; daughter-in-law, Sharon Villarreal of Cuero; granddaughters, Donna Sanchez of Wichita, Kansas; Shay Arriaga (Matthew) of Cuero, Bryn Villarreal of College Station; grandsons Robert Sanchez of Wichita, Kansas, Beau Villarreal of Victoria, Cade Villarreal of Austin; great grandchildren Trey Sanchez of Wichita, Kansas, Mason Sanchez of Wichita, Kansas, MaElena Sanchez of Dodge City, Kansas, Jewelee Arriaga of Cuero and Greenleigh Sanchez of College Station.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son Ray Villarreal III; seven brothers and four sisters.
Pallbearers are Beau Villarreal, Cade Villarreal, Matthew Arriaga, Michael Peters, Dustin Metting and Aaron Ford. Honorary Pallbearers are Roy Peters, Robert Sanchez and her great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Cuero, on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 9 a.m., rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by mass at 10:00 a.m. with Father David Berger officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
