Dollie Rea

Services for Mrs. Dollie Marie Rea, 88, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 at Mission Dorado Baptist Church in Odessa.

Born Dec. 3, 1927 in Mingus, Mrs. Rea was the daughter of Roy E. Shipp and Lurley P. Cowan. She married Rupert W. Rea on Dec. 28, 1946 in Fort Worth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and step-sister. 

She is survived by four sons, Bill (Shirley) of Odessa, Glenn (Carrie) of Cuero, Tommy (Jeri) of Midland and Terry (Patricia) of Andrews. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

She is also survived by a sister Jean (Joe) Holst of Whitney.

Dollie grew up in Mingus with her loving grandmother, three uncles and two aunts. She attended Mingus High School and graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth in 1946.

Following World War II, she and Rupert moved to West Texas where they started their family settling in Andrews. They lived there for 60 years becoming active members of First Baptist Church.

She enjoyed baking and sewing for friends and family and helping families in times of need. 

In the latter years of her life she lived in Odessa as a resident of Brookdale Sherwood assisted living facility surrounded by good friends and loving care-takers. She became a member of Mission Dorado Baptist Church.

In her final days she was able to say her good-bye to family and friends and express her desire to be re-united with her loving husband in Heaven.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 at Andrews County Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.

Officiating the services will be her pastors, Jared Whelman and Bob Thatcher, of Mission Dorado Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are Jeff Rea, Brian Rea, David Rea, Ben Lapp, Josh Cobarrubia, and Willi Goolsbey.

A family visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at McNett Funeral Home, 705 N. Main, Andrews, TX 79714.
