Hilda R. Edgar, 93, of Cuero passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017. She was born Sept. 16, 1923 in Nordon, Nebraska to Charles J. and Nellie Bahr Simons. Hilda married James “Darden” Edgar on Aug. 5, 1944 in Crawford, Nebraska. She graduated from Southwest Texas State in 1962 and taught in Nursery from 1962 to 1970 and in Yoakum from 1970 to 1984.
She is survived by her daughter, Eva-Marie Kohn of Houston; son, James C. (Buddy) Edgar of Cuero; grandchildren, Lisa Weickum and T.J. Weickum both of South Dakota and Milisa Roitscht of Woodsboro; four great-grandchildren and 13 nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband and brother Ralph Simons.
Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home with a Rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m. Services will be held Monday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Oscar Amo officiating. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
