
Gladys G. Mueller, life-long resident of Yorktown, passed away on January 23, 2017, at the age of 97 years, and 5 months. She was born on August 31, 1919 to the late Edward John Huebner and Annie Theresa Kuester. She attended Weldon School where she met her future husband. On October 21, 1940, Gladys married her childhood schoolmate, Carlton Mueller, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Yorktown, and in 1942, they moved to their present homestead. The couple was blessed with three children: Charles, Marsha, and Phil. Gladys and Carlton fulfilled a life-long dream of travel with several trips to Germany, other points in Europe, the Holy Land, Australia, as well as numerous trips in the United States with family and friends. Gladys delighted in spending time with her seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and her cats, dogs, and other animals always part of her life.
Gladys was involved in community and church activities and always ready for a game of dominoes. As a member of Gruenau Turn and Schuetzen Verein, Gladys and Carlton were actively involved with continuing the German heritage of the club. Years of involvement with Home Demonstration Clubs continued to hone her skills as a homemaker. Her ongoing commitment to St. Paul Lutheran Church included active involvement in altar guild and Bible study circles.
Gladys was preceded in death by her father; mother; sister, Stella Buesing; husband, Carlton; and son-in-law, Billy Moore. She is survived by her children: daughter, Marsha Moore of San Marcos; sons, Charles Mueller of Katy, and Phil and wife, Renee Mueller of Gruenau; Rosie Rios, longtime caregiver and best friend; grandchildren: Marissa and husband Brandon Austin, Michal and husband Bill Waechter, Shay and wife Stephanie Mancuso, Vaughn and wife Terri Mueller, Kelly Mueller, Sean and wife Hosia Mueller, and Mark and wife, Julie Kalousek; great-grandchildren: Olivia Austin, Owen Waechter, Nate and Aubrey Mancuso, Mark III and Michael Kalousek, Emily and Lilliane Mueller; and brother-in-law, Alton Buesing; and seven nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Massey Funeral Home - Yorktown. Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017, at S. Paul Lutheran Church - Yorktown. Services will be conducted by Pastor Tim Muehlbrad and Vicar Hans Tolpingrud. Interment will follow at Westside Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Austin, Bill Waechter, Mark Kalousek Jr., Shay Mancuso, Sean Mueller, Vaughn Mueller, and Charlie Schlinke.
